Security Philosophy & History

PCSG believes in integrated security solutions that work together as a “system of systems” providing the maximum deterrent against terrorist attacks at the lowest possible expense. Flight crews are the key element in an integrated security system and are an asset that has yet to be fully exploited.

Aircraft on the ground should be protected with security measures that begin in the cockpit and radiate outward to the airport parking lot. This clearly requires the cooperation of several different entities. Once a flight is airborne, only on-board assets can affect the positive outcome of a security breach. Therefore, it is crucial that flight crews have the training and information necessary to influence a safe outcome. The lives of hundreds of innocent Americans on-board the aircraft and thousands on the ground hang in the balance.

Nothing can be made terrorist-proof, but intelligent and coordinated programs can provide a powerful deterrent to those who might attack the aviation interests of our country.

PCSG was formed by commercial pilots from all-cargo and passenger airlines as a 501(c) 6 trade association non-profit organization. The Board of Directors and Officers of PCSG volunteer their time and efforts for no compensation. These pilots fly for several different airlines, and have worked on various projects together in the past representing different organizations. Recognizing that they could become an effective group working as part of the same team, they incorporated their airline security improvement activities in a trade association. The official formation of PCSG took place in January, 2004, but the body of work from the team extends beyond its short history.

As a non-profit trade association, PCSG needs your help with donations. This is our only source of funding to carry out the mission to improve airline security. PCSG can participate in government working groups; articulate ideas to airports and airlines; provide information to members of Congress and advocate solutions; work with other industry groups and technology manufacturers; participate in aviation security conferences; collaborate with aviation security professionals; recognize and highlight role models; and communicate with various media outlets.

To date, PCSG has done all of these things, but needs your help to continue. We have a need for professional staff, supplies, and expenses that would enable us to maintain our involvement on a national level.

The BOD and Officers of PCSG extend our heartfelt “Thank You” for visiting our web site, and your interest in improving airline security!
